The Women of Worth series will be showcasing women like you and me who share their victories and the testimonies that accompany them.
These women have God as their source and have triumphed even in the face of adversities and spread light and love wherever they are.
Today we welcome the lovely Salome Rodrigues.
Please introduce yourself
My name is Salome Rodrigues and I am 26 years old. I am single mummy to a 4-year-old boy and I am currently at University studying Psychosocial Studies & recently launch my empowerment business and organization.
What does God mean to you?
God means my foundation, my love, and my rescuer. I can just remember the time I gave myself to God about 4 years ago. When God showed me his love and gave me his strength to leave an abusive past.
I was overwhelmed but during the chaos and hurt/pain, he comforted me and that peace in my heart was far more precious.
Do you think the complete/total woman exist? If yes, describe what this means. If no, why?
I don’t believe the complete/total woman exist and I will start off talking from my own experience.
My journey started off as a child who was abused and alone/hurt and angry which lead me to an eventful life. Even though I may have had it all at one point my heart was so empty. That emptiness only filled up with Gods love and even now while I strive for the best version of myself I like to align that with the Lord as I am not complete in his image. I am always being refined.
I used to think I would be complete being in a relationship with God but I learned far more about myself now and grew then ever before in myself and with the Lord knowing I will be complete when I reunite with the Lord.
What was one (or more) misconceptions you had about life and women? What will you tell your younger self?
It’s sad but it’s because of my childhood. I didn’t believe in love. All I knew was hurt/pain and anger and if I could I would write a letter to myself to explain how worthy and value I was to the world. That my circumstances were not defining me. To remind myself that I have a loving son and friends who surround me with love and laughter. To hold on and fight with hope and bravery.
Who is (are) the person(s) that have influenced you the most so far?
My biggest influence has been the word of God, my relationship with him. God has put role models and people who have encouraged me and influenced me greatly her name is Luisa Chagas, a mother figure that showed me loved.
I am inspired by local women in my organization that I meet every week. I am influenced by great women such as Maya Angelou, Mother Theresa, Michele Obama.
What are your core values/philosophy of life?
My values are to live a life for God.
To love others as God loved me to save me from sin by sending his son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross and shed his blood for my sins. I remember how much the Lord rescued me and changed me and loves me and I live daily trying to love others.
How would you describe yourself? Your personality?
I am determined and brave with a kind heart. I am softly cheeky at times.
Do you have any favorite quotes? Or just one life mantra?
Yes, the quotes I love and use at work and daily are
‘She believe she could so she did’- R.S Grey
Be Brave & Be You -Salome Rodrigues
How do you wind down/ relax?
I have such a busy lifestyle that I prioritize me-time in my diary and try really hard to also implement it in my routine.
I switch off my devices and pamper myself. Taking my time and not rushing it.I finish it off with a great book and an early night. So relaxing …
If you could do it all again, what would you do differently?
