Good morning and welcome to a new week.
How was your weekend? Mine flew past before I knew it.
I shared my coke story months ago in a guest post on Positively Positive.
I had a branded bottle of coke my husband gave me back then when they produced bottles with different names. I had wanted to get one with my name on it and with a name like Ruth, I thought it would be easy. Naaaa
Then he gave it to me.
I fantasized about the perfect moment I would drink it chilled.
All efforts to get me to open it hit a brick wall. My husband tried. My son asked. There was just no way mummy was sharing her drink. Until my husband decided to drink it one day. He jokingly said you don’t even know if it has expired.
A light bulb went on in my head. I hadn’t even thought of that. Coke was always there. We checked for the expiry date, and yours truly, it had expired. Three months ago. WHAT? Arghhhhhh.
But it was the cold, hard truth. My branded coke was gone. Wasted. Didn’t fulfill its purpose.
We have all been in places in our lives at some point where we had something good going for us, and we waited too long to make it happen.
This might be covered in something that looks like perfectionism.
You say to yourself, “I just like everything to be perfect”, but you sit on your haunches waiting and waiting for things to happen.
You say tomorrow, and when tomorrow comes, you say tomorrow.
Why do that to yourself?
Work within the time you have. TODAY.Yesterday is a memory, tomorrow is yet to come but today is all we have. Act NOW! Click To Tweet
Make the best of it.
If you are following my series on Instagram, today I shared the post for Day6 from Proverbs 6.
The anchor text was Prov 6:10-11
A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest,
and poverty will come upon you like a robber,
and want like an armed man.
One moment of indecision can lead to a day of indecision. then a week of indecision. And so on.
Plus we have social media and television reality shows to keep you engaged and it looks like you are doing something.
But at the end of the week, month, year, you find yourself right where you started.
Sometimes, life truly happens.
Interruptions occur and force us to a halt. It could be a sick baby, loss of employment, a distress message from family, etc but that is not the case.
If you set your goals high enough and work at it, even if you don’t meet it, you;d get pretty close.
But if you don’t set them at all, you have zero chances of meeting your goal.
Go, shine your light!
